A Third Nephi insight

Third Nephi has some incredible things to teach us. Things that are causing me to change my paradigm. Here’s one of those insights Jesus gives us. Right after the great destruction of the Nephites and Lamanites and Jesus is talking to the people who have survived, he tells them why they were the ones saved. He says they were the most righteous. Were they the most righteous because they all belonged to the same church? No, the church had been disbanded a few years before this. Was it because they were all baptized the same way and with the right authority? No, because he shows them the baptism he wants them to have and tells them to stop contending about the way to do it because obviously they were differing on their views of the proper way to baptize. Was it because they all believed the same doctrines and beliefs? No, because He then tells them to stop contending about their doctrines. So why were they the most righteous? Because He tells them, they had refused to kill and persecute the prophets and saints. In other words, they had refused to fill their lives with anger and hate. They obviously filled their lives with compassion and love, compassion and love to those who thought differently than them. I don’t think it will be any different when He comes again.
